Common questions about the MOT reminder on Carhealth
Enter your registration and email address. We look up your MOT date from the DVLA and DVSA records, then email you a link to confirm. Once you confirm, we email you 30 days and again 7 days before the MOT runs out, or soon after you sign up if the date is closer.
Yes. There is no card and nothing to pay. The reminder emails only tell you about your MOT and how to unsubscribe.
From the DVLA vehicle record and the DVSA MOT history. For a car that has never had an MOT, the first test is due on the third anniversary of its first registration (the fourth in Northern Ireland), so we use that date. If we only know the month it was registered, we say the MOT is due by the end of that month.
Before each reminder we check the DVSA record again. If a new MOT has been recorded, we skip the reminder and carry on from the new date. After the date passes we read the new expiry so next year's reminder is set up for you.
Every reminder has an unsubscribe link: open it and press the button. After that we keep your address, plate and what you agreed to for two years as proof of consent, then delete them. Details are in our privacy policy.
This is a courtesy reminder. You are responsible for making sure your vehicle has a valid MOT, and emails can be delayed or land in spam. You can check your MOT status on GOV.UK at any time.
